the Croydon Shield. They won Division 1 with a score
of 4.5/6, half a point ahead of second-placed CCF A.

2008... West Wickham A are this year's Division
3 champions and winners of the Dave Luckin Trophy with
a near-perfect 6.5/7 – 2.5 points ahead of their nearest
rivals, Dulwich C and Streatham C.
April
2008... Congratulations to CCF B who have won the
Martin Cath Trophy at the first attempt with a game
in hand. They made sure of top place in Division 2 with
a win over South Norwood on 3 April.

2008... The 2008 Trost Trophy was won by Callum
Kirkpatrick of Dulwich Chess Club with an awesome 6/6.
Streatham's Robin Haldane came second with 4.5/6.

2008... This year's Trost Trophy will be held on
Monday 31 March 2008 at Crystal Palace Chess Club's
venue
in Sydenham, starting at 7:45pm. This is a fun six-round
tournament played at lightning speed – you make a move
every 10 seconds when the buzzer sounds. The winner
takes a prize of £30. There are also prizes for
the two runners up and for the best performances by
players graded under 130 and under 100. It costs just
£2.00 to enter. If you are interested in playing,

2008... Well done South Norwood 1, winners of the
2008 Bielski Cup. The Streatham team came second.

2008... The 2008 Bielski Cup will be contested
on Thursday 28 February at South Norwood Chess Club,
starting at 7:30pm. This is a lightning tournament for
four-board teams – each player has just five minutes
per game. There is an upper grading limit of 700 per
team. The entry fee is £5 per team and there are
cash prizes. To enter a team, email David

2007... This years AGM and Fixtures Meeting will
be held at Crystal Palace's venue (St Phillips Church
Hall, Coombe Road, Sydenham) on Monday 8 October starting
at 7:45 pm.

2007... With the 2007/08 season fast approaching,
we are delighted to welcome Cousldon Chess Fellowship
(CCF) and Battersea Chess Club to the Croydon League.
CCF will be entering teams in all three divisions and
Battersea will be entering a team in Division 3.
If your
team is thinking about playing in the Croydon League
next season there’s still time – we can accept applications
right up to our AGM and Fixtures Meeting on 8 October.
